Special Events Alcott Center Announces Art Exhibit: “Uncharted”
Art is a language, an instrument of knowledge, an instrument of communication - Jean Dubuffet, 1901 – 1985 This exhibition, organized by Alcott Center’s clients, showcases the works of over 20 artists – some self-taught, others with professional art training; painting, drawing, photography, watercolor and quilts are all represented in this first ever client-mounted showcase. Executive Director Penny Mehra notes “Alcott’s arts program is an attempt to support sustainability and self esteem…there is really some interesting work being produced.” Artist Tristan Scremin notes “We wanted to highlight another dimension of mental illness; to help dispel the public’s pre-conceived notions and support the efforts of the artists who overcome debilitating issues. It’s Alcott Center’s vision to build and expand this program over time. All works are for sale and proceeds benefit the Alcott Center and its clients. · The exhibit is free and open to the public.
